In 2020, the Republic of Karelia celebrates its 100th birthday. This cross-border region of Russia is actively involved in international economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, thereby raising large amounts of extra-budgetary funds.

The Republic of Karelia is actively involved in cooperation with the EU member states and Norway, including joint projects within the EU-Russia CBC Programmes. The Republic is ready to share its vast experience with other regions of Russia and open to joint scientific, educational, business, cultural and environmental projects.

Organizations of the Republic of Karelia will share their experience in implementing international projects for regional development at the round table “Republic of Karelia: Experience of Fund-Raising and Interactions with Foreign Partners – Science, Education, Business, Culture, Environment”, October 28, 12.00–17.00, Hall “Red 10”. Organizers: Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.

The round table will be devoted to ongoing international projects in the field of environmental protection, the Finnish-Russian Working Group on Nature Conservation and the Green Belt of Fennoscandia; international business projects; international cooperation in the fields of education and culture; discussing promising areas for further projects with the regions of Russia and foreign countries.
