Round Table
Territories and Digitalization: a New Quality of Life

Summary

Today, the digitalization of all sectors of the economy and management, including the social sphere, is recognized as a key technological trend in many countries.
The national program “Digital Economy” involves the restructuring of the entire Russia’s economy on a new technological basis by 2024. However, there are still some barriers in certain sectors of the economy and social sphere.
The digital transformation of the economy requires a single digital environment and an appropriate legal framework for data circulation and e-flow. What would it take to create a high-quality institutional environment for digital transformation? How will digital economy affect territorial development and people’s lives in different parts of the country?
The need to accelerate the implementation of digital technologies in the economy and social sphere creates new challenges for developments based on modern solutions that coordinate efforts of the state, higher education and research institutions, and business.
Topics to be discussed:
- Is it possible to measure the level of digitalization for the territory?
- The need to change a decision-making system at the regional / municipal level with regard to digitalization: new trends / old institutions.
- Does digitalization affect the quality of life?
- How will technology change life in urban and rural areas in 20 years?
- The skills managers need today and in the future to keep up with digitalization.
