The Russia’s Spatial Development Strategy until 2025 identifies the composition of the macro-regions. This gives rise to macro-regional development strategies, which should replace current strategies for federal districts expiring in 2020. At the same time, macro-regional strategies launch a new round of discussions regarding the subject and content of these documents, mechanisms and formats for interregional cooperation, workable funding mechanisms for their implementation, as well as regarding the impact on the federal subjects of Russia, including those of geostrategic importance, and on the country as a whole.
