Round Table
Maritime (Blue, Ocean) Economy: International Experience and Prospects to Outline Russia’s Position towards It

Summary

Sustainability of the maritime economy while conserving maritime ecosystems is gaining importance at various levels of decision-making. This topic corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. Such issues have attracted increasing attention from international organizations. Sustainable maritime economy is also a promising area for regional cooperation. All this requires examining international best practices and the constant updating of Russia’s approaches to this topic. The Baltic Sea Region has vast experience in international cooperation on these issues, and its dissemination may be useful for other regions.
